Give a gift to Help Other People Enjoy Christmas

Did you know loneliness is as damaging to your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day?

(Holt-Lunstad, 2015)

With your help, we can make Christmas special for those in our community who have no visiting family or friends.

Local resident Tracey Hope approached us with an idea to bless those in our community who are lonely. There are a large number of people who won’t receive a gift this Christmas time, not only that – they won’t be visited by any friends or family.

Together with Tracey, we want to provide hope to those people through the Gift of Hope campaign.

What you can do

We are asking local businesses and residents to donate gifts so that we can bless those who are alone at Christmas.

Gifts can be anything, such as:

  • Scarves, hats, caps, gloves, socks, vests
  • Hair accessories; combs, hair brushes
  • Toiletries; shampoo, shower gel, hand cream, after shave
  • Treats; chocolates, sweets, biscuits
  • Activities; puzzles, jigsaws, books, art sets

Donations

If you’d prefer to give financially into the campaign, that’s fine too. We will ensure all money given will be specifically used to buy gifts or more practical items such as food, gas or electricity for those in need.

If you are a UK tax payer, you can gift aid your donation allowing us to claim back 25p in every pound from the government – increasing your gift by 25%. If you’re willing to gift aid, please get in touch

Bank transfers should go to Account number: 10068125 | Sort Code:16-22-25 with the reference ‘Gift of Hope’

Cheques payable to Hope Church Lytham with a note to say it’s for the Gift of Hope campaign

Write a card

If you’d like to include a card, please write one and attach it to the gift. Feel free to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope as the recipients love the opportunity to thank their gift giver.

Drop it off

Gift donation can be dropped off at Hope Church Lytham, 10 Preston Rd, FY8 5AA
Tuesday – Thursday, 10am – 3pm
Wednesday, 7.30pm – 9pm
Sunday, 12pm – 1pm

The gift of time

As well as donations, we’re looking for volunteers who are willing to give an hour or two of their time to deliver gifts and sit with these lovely people, have a cup of tea and a chat. We’ll be distributing the gifts between 16 – 22 December.

By spending some time with these lonely people in our community, we hope to bring them joy and show them that someone cares about them.

All visiting volunteers will need to have a valid DBS check, or be paired with someone who has one.

If you’re interested in volunteering your time, please get in touch
